Apparently, there’s a local news site known as The North Country Gazette (don’t click that just yet…) covering parts of upstate New York via a blog format. Rather than putting in place an actual technical paywall, the site has apparently decided to go with a paywall-by-threat model. If you visit a story on the site, it tells you that you’re only allowed to view one page for free, and then they expect you to pay up:

Gotta love that Comic Sans font — in red, no less. Anyway, if you do “abuse the privilege,” apparently you come up against the following (which now appears to have been taken down, perhaps due to all of the attention):

In case you can’t see/read the image, it reads:

A subscription is required at North Country Gazette. We allow only one free read per visitor. We are currently gathering IPs and computer info on persistent intruders who refuse to buy subscription and are engaging in a theft of services. We have engaged an attorney who will be doing a bulk subpoena demand on each ISP involved, particularly Verizon Droids, Frontier and Road Runner, and will then pursue individual legal actions.

Where to start? First, I love how “Verizon Droid” (a phone) is included in the list of ISPs. But, more to the point, this site seems to believe that if it just says you can only visit once without paying, and you don’t, it has the right to then use your IP to sue you for “theft of services.” I’d love to see how well that plays out in court.

118 Comments | Leave a Comment..

New Jersey Ad Agency

Having the right tools and information is crucial to internet marketing. Chiropractic is controversial, and it is generally considered to be complementary and alternative medicine, a characterization that many chiropractors reject. The main treatment involves manual therapy, including manipulation of the spine, other joints, and soft tissues; treatment also includes exercises and health and lifestyle counseling. Traditional chiropractic assumes that a vertebral subluxation or spinal joint dysfunction interferes with the body’s function and its innate intelligence, a notion that brings ridicule from mainstream science and medicine. D.D. Palmer founded chiropractic in the 1890s and his son B.J. Palmer helped to expand it in the early 20th century. It has two main groups: “straights”, now the minority, emphasize vitalism, Innate Intelligence and spinal adjustments, and consider subluxations to be the leading cause of all disease; “mixers” are more open to mainstream and alternative medical techniques such as exercise, massage, nutritional supplements, and acupuncture. Chiropractic is well established in the U.S., Canada and Australia. For most of its existence, chiropractic has battled with mainstream medicine, sustained by ideas such as subluxation that are not based on solid science. Vaccination remains controversial among chiropractors. The American Medical Association called chiropractic an “unscientific cult” and boycotted it until losing a 1987 antitrust case. Chiropractic has had a strong political base and sustained demand for services; in recent decades, it has gained more legitimacy and greater acceptance among medical physicians and health plans in the U.S., and evidence-based medicine has been used to review research studies and generate practice guidelines. Many studies of treatments used by chiropractors have been conducted, with conflicting results. Collectively, systematic reviews of this research have not demonstrated that spinal manipulation is effective, with the possible exception of treatment of back pain. The efficacy and cost-effectiveness of maintenance chiropractic care are unknown. Although spinal manipulation can have serious complications in rare cases, chiropractic care is generally safe when employed skillfully and appropriately.

If you’re a NJ chiropractor and is getting a difficult time generating a living right now? Here’s a list of 10 celebrity endorsements that were confusing, boring or just plain silly.

Do the Oslen Twins Got Milk? How about do they got food at all?

The agency: Goodby Silverstein

This print ad poses the poor waifs Mary-Kate and Ashley like underfed hipsters. Probably they were not even allowed to lick off their milk mustaches.

De Niro on the mean streets of America Express

The agency: Ogilvy and Mather Ltd

This edgy TV commercial features De Niro strolling around New York City., squandering his considerable acting talent to hawk a credit card. If you are late for a payment, does the Taxi Driver come after you?

Mr. and the Flavor Oven

The agency: Celebrity Talent Promotions

I pity the fool who put Mr. T in an apron for this Flavor Oven infomercial. I think Mr. T is trying to channel Martha Stewart, but it the result is just bizarre.

Bruce Willis and the 125 Million Dollar Name Change
The agency: Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO

After we see Bruce Willis drive through exploding cars and Alice Cooper dance around with a big snake on his shoulders, we learn that these guys changed their name at one time and by golly the insurance company Norwich Union just changed their name too. It only cost 12.5 million dollars to tell us all this.

Seinfeld gets weird with Bill Gates of Microsoft

The agency: Userama

Seinfeld meets Bill Gates in a discount shoe store and tells Bill to shower with his clothes on and also to make computers like cakes so people can eat them. I think even Kramer would be completely befuddled by this TV spot.

Hulk Hogan and grillamania

The agency: QVC

The Hulkster flexes in a banana yellow shirt to demonstrate that the ultimate grill is 7 appliances in one and that you can also use it to smack down wrestling opponents. Just kidding about the smack down, but that might have improved this lame commercial.

Tiger Woods and PETA

The agency: PETA

Tiger did not give permission for this campaign. But that did not stop PETA from putting up billboards saying that even little tigers, like dogs and cats, need to sprayed and neutered.

Madonna and Pepsi

The agency: BBDO

In yet another Madonna video, set to her song, Like a Prayer, she cavorts around in an outfit not bare enough to be really interesting, yet scandalous enough to anger some Christian groups, since she does the prancing in a church. The groups then boycotted Pepsi and sales dropped.

Paul McCartney and Fidelity

The agency: Arnold World Wide

Mr. I will never sell out McCartney takes his band on the run in this TV spot, to advise us on the splendors of Fidelity 401k financial instruments. Well he is getting up there in age.

Michael Jordon and Hanes Underwear
The Agency: The Martin Agency
Boxers or briefs, this print ad coyly asks. Well considering Jordon’s well publicized escapades, probably neither.

Paris Hilton and Carls Jr.
The agency: MendelsohnZien

I always had this fantasy of taking Paris to a fast food joint. But she looks so bored in this commercial that my dream is pretty much crushed.

Sources

1. Olsen Twins- Got Milk

http://www.aef.com/on_campus/classroom/case_histories/3000

2. Unlike self proclaimed full service traditional advertising agencies, a good PPC provider such as Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.) will permit you to effectively target your customers. Advertisers can specify local keywords such as “ad agency new jersey” or natonal keywords such as “pay per click marketing” to retain pre-qualified customers to their websites. Users looking for a particular keyword will see your ads. The possibility for very high lead ratios, emails, or phone calls are enormous when done properly. A good pay per click company in NJ can help your local business or organization capture more opportunities through smart Internet marketing.

Everyone has had the dream at one time or another. The thought of being able to earn money from the comfort on home is a fantasy that has hit all of us at some point or another. No doubt some realize their dream in a big way due to developing a unique idea or just getting plain lucky. However for most of us, the notion of earning a boatload of cash from the the seat of your home computer desk is nothing but a dream.

However all hope is noit lost as there many ways to earn some quick bucks online and lord knows I have dug deep into the realms of the web in order to come up with the most legit ones that are your worth your time. You wont get rich overnight but you can easily earn some nice extra income just by completing some easy tasks that wont require much time. So without further delay here as the best methods and sites that I personally use to add some extra dough in my wallet.

In my first installment of MAKING QUICK MONEY ONLINE, I will share with you the concept of Pay Per Click sites and how they can earn you some very quick money. Lets take a look.

PAY PER CLICK SITES:

The new rage in the cyber money making world are pay per click sites where you can earn anywhere from .01 to .10 just got clicking on an add that runs for 30 seconds. There are a great many of these sites popping up and I have checked out most of them. Some are not worth the time while others have been well worth it. These are the ones I like:

ClixSense (clixsense.com): This pay per click site pays you .01 to watch a 30 second clip of a certain ad. Yes this is as cheap of a rate as you will get but they have tons of ads that appear all day long. You can easily accumulate up to .50 a day by periodically checking the site. They pay out after you have made $10.00 and its through check only but do know that they take out $3.00 for a processing fee so you really only get $7.00 which stinks but again its easy money to make. I certainly can use an extra $7.00 and I am sure you can also. It requires really no time at all. Just go to the site, click the ad and let it run while you do something else in another window.

NeoBux (NeoBux.com): Like ClixSense, NeoBux is a pay per click site that offers .01 for viewing a 30 second ad. They offer a much quicker pay out however as the threshold is only $2.00 instead of the $10.00 at ClixSense. They also pay through PayPal which is quick and easy. The only poor thing about this site is that they dont have as many ads popping up as often as ClixSense but again you dont have to wait as long in order to get your dough.

YouData (YouData.com): This is my favorite pay per click site as it pays .05 a click with no time limit to voew the ad. Another feature they have is if you click on any link on the add, you get another .05. So really you get .10 for a total of about 5 seconds of time spent. Sounds good to me. Also you can have two different YouData accounts hooked on to a single PayPal account so you get double the pay for the same ads. They also pay every Friday through PayPal which I noted. The only troubling thing with this site is the fact that the ads have been VERY slow to come around after you blow through the first 20 or so that they automatically offer. Still the pay is great here.

So once again you wont get rich overnight but you will put some extra cash in your pocket and thats something that anyone can use. Check back for more Making Quick Money Online essays by yours truly as I will also be going into the following money making methods:

-Earn Money Through Posting Articles

-Earn Money Through Taking Surveys

-Earn Money Thorugh Google AdSense

Below are several pay per click tips for your local New Jersey business, or any organization, to help you build the best PPC campaign for your business

1: Select particular Relevant Keywords or Phrases

Put yourself in your client’s shoes. How would they search for your merchandise/offerings on Google? Learn your customers or niche well. Investigate the keywords a person would likely use to lead to your product or service. The correct set of keyword phrases does not have to capture a lot of traffic – just those customers who are most likely to contact you or purchase from you.

2: Write Specific and Unique Ad Copy

All legitimate pay per click expert’s in NJ or anywhere, would tell you that clear, specific and unique ads perform best. Your advertising headline should be straight-to-the point. Utilize your key phrase in your headline and description if possible. Including pricing if available or help your ad stand out with other unique offerings.

3: Customize Your Ads For Every Phrase

A custom ad for every phrase you are using will bring increased performance than a generic ad. Custom ads matching the phrase used by web searchers will get your PPC Ad more attention, interest, and clicks. Highlight your Unique Offer. Include a call to action and phone number if room is available as well.

4: Adapt Your Destination Page

This is very often the most ignored part of most good PPC campaign. A NJ pay per click expert, such as those at Purpose Advertising, will notify you that your webpage must be best use of the advertising spends used to get to it. This avoids customer confusion and also increases your score with Google.

5: Improve Your Campaign Through Testing

A successful pay per click (ppc) campaign takes nonstop modification. Discover which phrase give you the most traffic or sales. Remove those keywords or ads that are not performing, even if they do generate traffic. You pay for every click your ad gets so every click counts!

For more information contact <a title="NJ Ad agency" Unlike self proclaimed full service traditional advertising agencies, a good PPC provider such as Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.) will permit you to effectively target your customers.

In today’s business world, paid search is as popular as yellow pages advertising. Everyone’s doing it, and a business must be everywhere his competition is. Go to any of the top search engines and you will find a way to setup your Pay-Per-Click ads. All of the search engines have made setting up Pay-Per-Click ads as simple as one, two, three! Don’t let that fool you into thinking you should setup your advertising program on your own. I am not saying that you cannot click through the screens, enter your information, and select some keywords. That is the simple part.

There is more to a successful ad campaign on Google than just “looking good”. Beware that if you do not know how to select relevant keywords, write effective ad text, and choose the most relevant landing page from your website, your Pay-Per-Click ads could appear many pages back in the search results and cost more per click! That isn’t a good start to receiving that return on your investment.

Search engines strive to provide relevant content to users’ search queries. The relevancy of the results pertains to organic listings and paid advertisements. Organic listings for most search engines are the main listings you see on the left when you do a search. You cannot pay the search engines to appear in the organic search results. You can pay Search Engine Optimization companies to optimize your website to include the right amount of effective keywords to allow you to appear for free in the organic search results based on the search engine’s algorithm. The search engines’ algorithms used to determine organic search results ranking is always changing, and there is no guarantee that you will appear in all the searches you want by optimizing your website.

Search Engines are obviously a bit torn when it comes to paid advertising. How relevant do the ads have to be to the users’ search queries? Advertisers are paying to appear there, right? Then again, users want to see useful, relevant results based on their search or they will use a different search engine next time. Well, there is a happy medium. On Google, your rank is determined not by your bid alone, but also by a Quality Score. The higher your Quality Score, the less you have to bid to appear higher.

Google basically rewards relevance. The Quality Score is determined for the most part by Google determining the relevance of your keywords, ad text, and landing page. Another huge factor that impacts your ranking is your clickthrough rate. Your clickthrough rate is a ratio of clicks over impressions (the number of times your ad appears on the search results screen). If users perform a search, see your ad, but do not click on your ad, that impression will affect your cickthrough rate. If Google determines that your ad is not relevant enough to users searches for a keyword, Google will inactivate the irrelevant keyword unless you are willing to pay more per click for that keyword. There comes a point when an irrelevant keyword is not worth as much as Google wants you to pay, so you will delete that keyword from your advertising program. Google then continues to display relevant results for users searches. It is a self-correcting cycle.

When setting up paid advertisements that usually display on the right side of search results, there are many aspects of the ad you need to keep in mind. Relevance is the key. Your keywords, ad text, and landing page should all be similar in content and focus. Keywords that are too broad can ruin your results.

What is the point in setting up Pay-Per-Click ads? The point is to increase your revenue by converting clicks on your ad to sales.

The point of Pay-Per-Click advertising is not to receive the most impressions. More impressions do not mean more revenue. If you are a plumbing contractor, and you use the keyword “plumber” in your advertising program, your ad could display if people search for “plumber certifications”, “clorox liquid plumber”, or even ”plumber jokes” if you do not know specifically how to setup that keyword. Those searches will give you impressions that will not become clicks, and therefore, will not become sales. In fact, receiving those impressions without clicks will lower your clickthrough rate which could cause you to pay more for clicks.

The point of Pay-Per-Click advertising is not to receive the most clicks. You do not want to setup an ad that is not focused on the product or service you provide. The last thing you want is for a user to click on your ad and then determine that you do not offer the product or service they want. You just paid for a click that did not lead to a sale. You want to setup effective ad text with specific keywords that lead a buyer to click on your ad when they want what you have to offer. That will lead to a sale and increase your revenue.

How do you setup an effective Pay-Per-Click advertising program? You will establish your daily budget and the cost you are willing to pay for a click. A professional Search Engine Marketing Account Manager will analyze keywords, write effective ad text, and analyze your website to determine the best way to setup your ads.

There is not a perfect way to setup your Pay-Per-Click ads. There are “best practices” that are constantly changing. Let your Search Engine Marketing Account Manager keep up with those never-ending changes in the Search Engine Marketing industry. You are trying to run a business. Let the Search Engine Marketing Account Manager provide you with qualified traffic. Your Search Engine Marketing Account Manager will setup your advertising program and optimize your ad based on the market and past results. You cannot just setup your Pay-Per-Click ads and then let them remain the same. Remember that setting up ineffective ads can lead to a higher cost-per-click and a low return on your investment. There are many Search Engine Marketing companies out there that charge based on the results you receive. You cannot afford to setup your ads incorrectly. If you do not know the best practices in the Search Engine Marketing industry and you do not have the time while running your business to learn, pay an expert. It is worth the investment.

For more information contact <a title="NJ Ad agency" We consistently attract brands that embrace change—companies and products that benefit from new and effective ways to reach expanded audiences with the right message at the right time. Intrigued? Talk to an agency that delivers you exactly what their name promises:

Looking for a home-based business that goes beyond entry and stuffing? If you have an interest or knack for selling, you might consider selling advertising (print, web or other) on a freelance basis. Here are some tips and suggestions to help you evaluate if starting your own advertising sales business is the right home-based business for you…

Many different types of companies hire advertising sales people on a contract basis-magazine and periodical publishers, newspapers (dailies and weeklies), companies that put together programs, coupon books and advertising sales packets. The internet has provided a booming market for advertising and many Web sites now sell ad space and are in need of specialists to sell those ads. A person who is skilled and experienced in advertising sales may be able to carve out his or her own niche or build an independent business placing and/or selling advertising for a variety of outlets. You may even be able to find contract work selling radio and television advertising.

Most independent advertising sales jobs will be paid on a commission or percentage basis. You’ll be paid a percentage of the cost of the advertising you sell. For a Web site, there may be some on-going or profit sharing paid after the initial commission. You’ll need to make sure you have a clear understanding of how you will be compensated-how much, how often, and how payment is made. As an independent contractor, you should definitely have a signed contract with each of the clients or customers for whom you sell advertising. Be on the lookout for any “non compete” clauses that might inhibit your ability to sell advertising for different companies that may be in the same, or similar lines of business.

In addition to good people and sales skills, starting your own advertising sales business will require that you keep accurate records and pay close attention to detail. You will likely be working with deadlines and submission guidelines that vary from client to client, so it will be important to keep track of the details and fulfill the expectations. Salespeople who are not only able to build contacts and loyal customers, but also those who are able to make sure all the paperwork is order, payment is made and deadlines are met will be hands down the most successful. Additionally, you’ll need to manage your own invoicing and billing to ensure that you get paid, so some basic bookkeeping skills are a must.

To get started with NJ Advertsing Sales, you might start by contacting local publications and media outlets to find out how they handle advertising sales. It might be necessary to take a part-time job in the industry to learn the ropes if you haven’t worked in advertising sales before. Web sites like Craigslist and other online resources (try to Google “publishing jobs” and “freelance publishing jobs” to find some other online resources for freelance advertising sales work) can be a good way to get a feel for what sort of jobs might be available for an independent contractor.

<a ensure your promotion efforts are as effective as possible.

Instinctively, many of us rush out into the seemingly never ending depths of the internet after launching a website, product or service and begin frantically attempting to gain some sort of exposure. In the midst of our enthusiasm and excitement however, many of us seem to commonly overlook what I have come to dub the 10 deadly sins of promotion. Without further ado, here they are.

10. Using a little too much Java script can actually hinder crawlers from catching up with and identifying your page for inclusion in the search results of top internet search engines. This means that your website will be relegated to some bottom place on the list that comes up on results of searches by engines. This also happens with indiscriminate inclusion of Flash and frames.

9. You are neglecting linking to related content on other sites. It is often surprising just how powerful including relevant articles and pieces of information from other sites or blogs can be. Besides providing a different insight into something you may have already covered, it also allows you to begin establishing a relationship with other website owners in which you may both eventually benefit off.

8. You are not subtle enough. When promoting your website or blog on forums based on similar interests, you have to take care to go about it in a subtle manner or else your target audience may actually be repulsed by your tactics.

7. You did not include relevant keywords. Keywords are what will get your website or blog listed on any search result when a user types in that keyword in the browser of a search engine. Include enough of these and you are sure to get a high listing.

6. Keywords again. You need to select keywords in which you can actually compete for. There’s no point targeting the most popular keywords because chances are you will find it extremely difficult to attain a decent ranking for them. Keywords should be selected carefully, if need be, invest in programs (like Keyword Corral) that are designed to make the process much simpler and effective. This is also covered in page 42 in Building a Business NOT a Blog.

5. You rely on SEO alone to fuel your traffic flow. Explore other methods too, like social media, social book marking, participating in forums, PPC and link baiting. This brings me to my next point.

4. You are incorrectly using social media to promote your site. The key behind using mediums like Facebook and Twitter to effectively promote your website is building relationships. Neglecting this will substantially impact on your social media promotion efforts.

3. Your content is boring. If you want word of mouth promotion by visitors, you have to supply them with content that is interesting, fresh and which the visitors can talk about.

2. There re just too many pop ups. This is something I’ve noticed with many websites lately. Get rid of pop up ads, whether your site hosts them or whether you use pop ups to promote your own site.

1. You seem too desperate in your promotion. This puts potential visitors off.

If there’s anything I’ve left out which you feel should be included, I’d definitely love to hear about it.

About the Author: However, your company must have as numerous questions for you as you have for them. Here are a number of things to consider when interviewing your service Provider or internet marketing professional.

At Purpose Advertising, we converse with our clients to make sure that we are altogether looking for the same purpose and objective. Vastly often, companies can have differing opinions on what they deem as achievement or success of a aspiration. We tend to raise the bar for ourselves and our customers, and have got to admit, this is not for everybody.

Holding your marketing campaigns to higher principles is something that numerous New Jersey Ad Agencies are uncomfortable with. In fact, a lot of them hate change and writhe and wriggle throughout the death throes that characteristically go with the last part of their era. This is quite normal, as change and adaptation is not for every company, and most likely your existing service Provider is struggling to survive even as they show their best country club smile and snigger with reference to their favorite golf courses.

Yet again, Golf courses, classic vehicles, country clubs, and talks about “living the lifestyle” do not assist your business sell more because of the deployment of an proficient and valuable NJ business advertising company. Good Agencies and Marketing companies in NJ have competed for days based upon relations, bonds, and friendships more than all else. This house of cards continues to crumble as inquiring minds begin to examine why they are lining the purses of their customary marketing service Provider lacking any return on investment or responsibility.

Before you set off on the quest finding an ad service Provider for your small organization, consider the following:

What makes an marketing service Provider a SMART Company?

Perhaps it may be many years of practice in local media?

Perhaps it may be relationships with newspapers, radio stations, or TV advertising?

Is it just the actuality that they have survived long enough to keep on in business riding off your own business naivety?

Smart Advertising consists of a correct, open, and sincere methodology about marketing and marketing your business, organization, or company. Factual, trackable, results, not just a list of products and several track records that date back to the age of their 1969 Pontiac GTO. What is bringing results at the moment, and how can you prove it? As Wendy’s used to say “Show me the Beef”. Too much Sizzle and not enough steak = weak online marketing results, lower product sales, and more New Jersey Ad agencies revolving like a wheel to try to force a number of stats in front of you to give good reason for some skewed logic that only serves to rationalize more money for their company.

Ask around when choosing your next NJ Marketing Agency, and here are a few to get you asking the right questions:

1. What do we have need of from our ad agency: help in planning, researching, creating, producing, picking media, every one of these, or none of these? If your organization don’t have a desire, you may not need an service Provider. Do not just go with the flow, consider your true needs for your company. If your service Provider does not inquire about all of your needs, then you may need to consider another marketing manager to succeed with.
2. Must the ad company handle the media buying buying, should we use a media experience-buying service, or should we do it ourselves? Just since the agency offers a service doesn’t mean you have to use it, and just since they offer it, it doesn’t mean they know what they heck they are doing. scores of NJ Ad Agencies use what we will refer to as “me too” products. They see other agencies offering Search Engine Marketing, and they will say that they also offer this service when in fact they may be outsourcing it to some unnamed company. If they throw terms at you all of a sudden, then chances are they found a number of new “vendor” that offers a variety of services and they (just like spaghetti) are throwing things at your wall to see what sticks.
3. Will the company be rewarded solely by the commission it earns on the media it purchases and the added commission it earns on production, or will you pay a flat fee that includes all products? I’ve never heard of a surgeon charging a commission on the cost of the operating room. But watch out for hourly fees. Agencies often practically bankrupt businesses with these, and not on purpose. Require some pricing of what the compensation package will be. Flat pricing can work, commission-percentages can work, and crossbreed circumstances can work all dependent on your particular requirements and your nj ad agencies familiarity, resources, and fee options. Flexibility is King today in these financial times.
4. Are we picking an company since we desire a specific kind of advertising campaign or since it’s the best company? Beware of agencies that specialize in one kind of advertising. Your company isn’t like the others for which they have created advertising. You’re different, and your ads must reflect that. a number of agencies have a wall full of ads and will reward their designers for selling “off the shelf” ads versus true creativity. Agencies are for-profit entities and recycling in this case can just mean slapping your logo on some other clients ad.
5. How vital is it that we have regular and unlimited access to the president of the service Provider we select? You need to see the individual who’s involved with your account regularly. If you get to see an important person from one management layer down, and that individual lives and breathes your business, the leader means little to you. On the flip side, often the service Provider leader may have the least amount of knowledge but may have the slickest suit in the room, the fanciest Mercedes, and the tannest tan. However, ask him about the specifics of any of his offerings and watch the merry go round spin. Delegation is fine as long as those who are running the company have a good working data of the intricacies of all services they are selling.
6. Does the company have proven prowess in direct marketing and the Internet since they so closely tie in with marketing? If the answer is no, go directly to the next agency. Direct advertising and the World Wide Web are integral parts of marketing, growing in importance every day. If the answer is yes, ask for specifics on the spot. Do not accept “Let me get back to you” or “We will get you results, we are the experts”. It’s bull, and we all know what that smells like. Sometimes, it takes a while to smell it but it all comes out in the wash. Just try to pre-qualify your Ad agency before they sell you a bag of goods.
7. Do we expect an company to handle only our existing advertising, or our new-product launches and grand openings as well? Ideally one service Provider should handle everything. How adept is the agency at introducing new products, and does it have access to first-rate public relations services? The two right answers are “great” and “of course.” You may be geniuses and have more creative ideas that Bill Gates has dollar bills, however a plan without action has no effect and puts no dollars in your pockets. Ideas are like mouths. Everyone has one.
8. Does the location of the ad service Provider matter to us? In these days of e-mail, faxes, cellular phones, and satellite transmission, location is less essential. Nonetheless, private contact is the premiere form of communication. You need to consider how well your company knows your market, area, DMA, district, or area of responsibility. Bottom line, can the agency recognize my customer or prospect.
9. Even if we retain the final say-so in what advertising runs, who will certainly be in charge of advertising decisions – someone at our place or theirs? Do we respect that human being? Is their trust in place? Will we over-ride clear cut facts and rely upon our old gut feelings of what has worked for 10 years versus looking at the cold hard truth of call tracking, website monitoring, and coupon or store redemption?
10. As a final point, do we like both the effort prepared by the service Provider and the service sales it has achieved? Do we like the associates? Do we count on them? Are they more concerned with awards, sales, or their own ego? Deduct 10 points for everything they speak about awards, personal product sales, or name dropping. You can win international marketing awards, but Our Company are far more satisfied of the profits our clients have made. Prizes will not pay the bills. For our agency or your company. If you go above your clients expectations, you expect to retain a client for life. We want to exceed your expectations, bring more to the table, and constantly, always, put further additional energy into our products than any challenger in all of the market.

Purpose Advertising is an NJ ad service Provider that offers in both traditional media experience and internet based marketing for businesses who need better and more accountable sales from their marketing.

Our traditional advertising services and New Jersey search engine advertising services have brought distinguished results.

Purpose Advertising combines both traditional and Web online marketing efforts to design a total in-house experience for your target audience or clientele. However, your agency should have as many questions for you as you have for them. Here are some things to consider when interviewing your agency or marketing expert.

At Purpose Advertising, we interview our clients to make sure that we are all seeking the same goal and objective. Very often, companies can differ on what they deem as success or achievement of a goal. We tend to raise the bar for ourselves and our clients, and must admit, this is not for everyone.

Holding your advertising campaigns to higher standards is something that many New Jersey Ad Agencies are uncomfortable with. In fact, many despise change and writhe and wriggle during the death throes that typically accompany the end of their era. This is quite normal, as change and adaptation is not for every agency, and most likely your current agency is struggling to survive even as they show their best country club grin and chuckle about their favorite golf courses.

Again, Golf courses, classic cars, country clubs, and talks about “living the lifestyle” do not help your company sell more through the utilization of an efficient and effective advertising agency. Smart Agencies and Marketing companies in New Jersey have competed for years based upon relationships, bonds, and friendships above all else. This house of cards has been collapsing as new generations of business owners begin to question why they are lining the pockets of their traditional ad agency without any return on investment or accountability.

Before you go about the difficult task of choosing an ad agency for your small business, you should ask yourself 10 questions:

What makes an advertising agency a SMART Agency?

Is it their many years of experience in media?

Is it their relationships with newspapers, radio stations, or TV advertising?

Is it just the fact that they have survived long enough to stay in business riding off your coat tails?

Smart Advertising consists of a true, open, and honest approach about advertising and marketing your business, organization, or company. Real, trackable, results, not just a list of services and some track records that date back the the age of their 1969 Pontiac GTO. What is working now, and how can you prove it? As Wendy’s used to say “Show me the Beef”. Too much Sizzle and not enough steak = poor marketing results, lower sales, and more agencies spinning like a wheel to try to shove some stats in front of you to justify some skewed logic that only serves to justify more budget for their company.

Ask a few questions when choosing your next NJ Advertising Agency, and here are a couple to get you started:

What do we require from our ad agency: help in planning, researching, creating, producing, picking media, all of these, or none of these? If you don’t have a need, you may not need an agency. Do not just go with the flow, consider your true needs for your company. If your agency does not inquire about all of your needs, then you may need to consider another marketing agent to work with.

Should the ad agency handle the media buying, should we use a media-buying service, or should we do it ourselves? Just because the agency offers a service doesn’t mean you have to use it, and just because they offer it, it doesn’t mean they know what they heck they are doing. Many NJ Ad Agencies use what we will refer to as “me too” services. They see other agencies offering Search Engine Marketing, and they will say that they also offer this service when in fact they may be outsourcing it to some unnamed company. If they throw terms at you all of a sudden, then chances are they found some new “vendor” that offers a variety of services and they (just like spaghetti) are throwing things at your wall to see what sticks.

Will the agency be compensated solely by the commission it earns on the media it purchases and the added commission it earns on production, or will you pay a flat fee that includes all services? I’ve never heard of a surgeon charging a commission on the cost of the operating room. But watch out for hourly fees. Agencies often nearly bankrupt companies with these, and not on purpose. I recommend getting a monthly estimate of what the hourly fees will be. Flat fees can work, commission-percentages can work, and hybrid situations can work all depending on your exact needs and your agencies experience, resources, and payment options. Flexibility is King right now in these economic times.

Are we picking an agency because we want a specific kind of advertising campaign or because it’s the best agency? Beware of agencies that specialize in one kind of advertising. Your company isn’t like the others for which they have created advertising. You’re different, and your ads should reflect that. Some agencies have a wall full of ads and will reward their designers for selling “off the shelf” ads versus true creativity. Agencies are for-profit entities and recycling in this case can just mean slapping your logo on some other clients ad.

How important is it that we have regular and unlimited access to the president of the agency we select? You need to see the person who’s involved with your account regularly. If you get to see someone from one management layer down, and that person lives and breathes your business, the president means little to you. On the flip side, often the agency president may have the least amount of knowledge but may have the slickest suit in the room, the fanciest Mercedes, and the tannest tan. However, ask him about the specifics of any of his services and watch the merry go round spin. Delegation is fine as long as those who are running the company have a good working knowledge of the intricacies of all services they are selling.

Does the agency have quantifiable prowess in direct marketing and the Internet since they so closely tie in with marketing? If the answer is no, go directly to the next agency. Direct marketing and the Internet are integral parts of marketing, growing in importance every day.

Do we require an agency to handle only our existing advertising, or our new-product launches and grand openings as well? Ideally one agency should handle everything.

Does the location of the ad agency matter to us? In these days of e-mail, faxes, cellular phones, and satellite transmission, location is less important. Nonetheless, personal contact is the best form of communication. You need to consider how well your agency knows your market, area, DMA, district, or area of responsibility. Bottom line, can they understand my customer or prospect.

Although we have the ultimate say-so in what advertising runs, who will really be in charge of advertising decisions – someone at our place or theirs? Do we respect that person? Is their trust in place? Will we over-ride clear cut knowledge and rely upon our old gut feelings of what has worked for 10 years versus looking at the cold hard truth of call tracking, website monitoring, and coupon or store redemption?

Finally, do we love both the work done by the agency and the results it has achieved? Do we like the people? Do we trust them? Are they more concerned with awards, sales, or their own ego? Subtract 10 points for everything they say about awards, personal sales, or name dropping. You can win international advertising awards, but we are far more proud of the profits our clients have earned. Awards don’t pay the bills. For our company or yours. If you exceed your clients expectations, you expect to retain a client for life. We want to exceed your expectations, bring more to the table, and always, always, put more additional effort into our work than any competitor out there.

Purpose Advertising is an NJ ad agency that specializes in both traditional media and online marketing for companies who desire better and more accountable results from their advertising.

Our traditional advertising services and NJ search engine marketing services have brought great results.

Purpose combines both traditional and Internet marketing efforts to create a total in-house experience for your target audience or clientele.
